I have an academic background and spent the last 30 years studying and teaching world religions (Eastern and Western, tribal and indigenous, goddess and earth religions) with special interest in religious material culture, that is, religious art, ritual objects, and sacred sites whether architectural or natural. This has prepared me for my parallel, and now primary, career as a ritual artist specializing in religious imagery, totemic animals, and sacred spaces around the world. I am Wiccan/Pagan and Buddhist (and a survivor of Catholic parochial schooling) and, therefore, bring an eclectic religious sensibility to my artwork which is why I include as "religious" not only those images of organized religions, but also images drawn from tribal/pagan spirituality which highlights the sacredness of animals and the earth.
My work is primarily 1) drawing in soft and oil pastels, acrylic and mineral ink and brush/glass pen, watercolor pencil, water soluble wax crayon, and 2) multi media collage on using handmade and machine made decorative papers, fluid iridescent and metallic acrylics (brush on and acrylic "skins"), and mica mediums. My work often makes use of iridescent, metallic, and reflective materials to increase its light giving properties.
